RelocateLab ("we", "us", "Site") takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, your rights, and how you can control it.

1. Data We Collect

• Email address — only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter via the signup form. You provide explicit consent at the point of signup.
• Contact form submissions — your name, email, and message when you use our contact form.
• Analytics data — if you accept cookies, we collect anonymised browsing data (pages visited, browser type, approximate location) via Google Analytics 4. This is only collected after you give consent via the cookie banner.
• Theme preference — stored locally in your browser (localStorage). Never sent to our servers.

We do not collect payment details, passport information, or any sensitive personal data.

2. Cookies and Consent

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 sets first-party cookies to measure sessions and page views. These are analytics cookies — not advertising or tracking cookies.

On your first visit, a consent banner asks whether you accept or decline analytics cookies. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and GA4 does not collect any data about your visit. Your choice is stored in your browser (localStorage) and remembered on future visits.

We also use localStorage (not a cookie) to store your dark/light mode preference. This is essential for the site to function as expected and does not require consent.

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for this site.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Newsletter emails — to send occasional relocation guides and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying with "unsubscribe".
• Contact form — to respond to your enquiry.
• Analytics (consent required) — to understand which content is useful and improve the site.

We will never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

• Google Analytics 4 — analytics only, subject to Google's Privacy Policy. Only activated after consent.
• Google Fonts — fonts loaded from Google's CDN. Google may process your IP address as part of this request. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.
• Netlify — website hosting. Netlify processes server logs including IP addresses per their Privacy Policy.
• FormSubmit.co — newsletter and contact form email forwarding. Your email address and message are relayed to our inbox.
• Gumroad — digital product sales. If you purchase a PDF pack, Gumroad processes your payment and personal data per their Privacy Policy. We receive only confirmation of purchase.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

• Consent — analytics cookies, newsletter subscription
• Legitimate interests — responding to contact form enquiries, server security logs

6. Data Retention

Newsletter email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' default retention settings (2 months for user/event data). Contact form messages are retained in our inbox for as long as operationally necessary.

7. Your Rights

Under GDPR, UK GDPR, and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Withdraw consent at any time (for newsletter: unsubscribe; for analytics: clear localStorage)
• Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority
