What we do
RelocateLab is a relocation intelligence platform. We aggregate, structure, and score data on international relocation — covering visa access, cost of living, tax treatment, healthcare, safety, job markets, and quality of life across more than 180 countries.
Our tools are designed for people who are seriously considering an international move and need to cut through the noise. We do not sell relocation services, take referral fees for visa agents, or prioritise sponsored countries in our rankings. Our scores are calculated from data, not advertising agreements.
Why we built it
Most relocation resources fall into one of two categories: either vague lifestyle content ("Portugal is amazing, here's a sunset photo") or dense legal documents that require a lawyer to interpret. Neither is useful for someone trying to make a decision in a weekend.
We built RelocateLab to occupy the middle ground — structured enough to be actionable, accessible enough to be useful without a consultant. The goal is to give you the same quality of information that a well-briefed friend with global experience would give you: direct, honest, and grounded in what the process actually looks like.
Our principles
Data over narrative
Every score is derived from primary data sources — official government visa requirements, IMF and World Bank economic data, WHO healthcare statistics, and Numbeo cost-of-living indices.
No paid placement
Countries appear in rankings based on their data scores, not advertising spend. We do not accept sponsorship that affects which destinations appear prominently.
Honest about limitations
Relocation is complex and individual circumstances vary significantly. We flag where rules are ambiguous, where data is sparse, and where professional legal advice is essential.
Continuously updated
Visa requirements, tax laws, and cost of living change. We update country profiles and guides when material changes occur, and we show the last-updated date on all content.
How our scores work
Each country receives a Relocation Score out of 10, calculated from weighted sub-scores across nine categories: Visa Accessibility, Cost of Living, Job Market, Quality of Life, Safety, Healthcare, Tax Climate, English Friendliness, and Infrastructure.
Sub-scores are normalised against the full dataset so that a score of 8 means the country performs in approximately the top 20% of the 180+ countries we cover. The weighting reflects what matters most to the majority of international movers, but you can sort and filter by individual categories if your priorities differ.
